About the presenter:

Dr. Jessica Gurley graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2008 with her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Superior Court of DC Child Guidance Clinic, where she conducted therapy and assessments with court-referred adolescents. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Forensic Services at Springfield Hospital Center. Dr. Gurley joined the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University Washington DC in 2009, while she was still completing her postdoctoral work. Additionally, she is a Clinical Assessment Consultant for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and is one of 30 nationwide trainers for the Woodcock Johnson, Fourth Edition (Cognitive, Achievement, and Oral Language batteries) and one of ten nationwide trainers for the Early Cognitive and Academic Development assessment. Dr. Gurley is licensed to practice psychology in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC and currently maintains a small private practice that focuses on psychological assessment with children and adolescents. Her main focus in her private practice at this time is educational assessments and consulting with education law attorneys. Dr. Gurley has been called to testify in court and in educational hearings as an expert witness on forensic psychology, psychological assessment, child and adolescent psychopathology, and child and adolescent assessment. Dr. Gurley's research interests include forensic psychology and psychological assessment. In particular, she is interested in researching how accurately assessment instruments are administered, scored, and interpreted. She has published articles in various peer-reviewed journals, including Behavioral Sciences & the Law and Clinical Psychology Review. She has presented at over 20 state, national, and international conferences and frequently presents with students. She has published multiple book chapters, primarily regarding assessment, and is in the process of writing her first book.
