The goals of this committee include bringing together individuals and resources from the academic, clinical and public sectors to advance the integration of psychological science and clinical practice. Below is information about our Committee Co-Chairs and members as well as brief summaries of upcoming science-related events and activities that may be of interest to DCPA members.
Our Committee is Co-Chaired by Dr. Karen Shanor and Dr. Susan Czajkowski. Dr. Shanor is a clinical and neuropsychologist who teaches at Georgetown University, and is a former White House consultant and an advisory member of Discovery Channel Global Education. A frequent lecturer at the Smithsonian Institution, she is an internationally recognized expert in cultural neuroscience, the nature of consciousness, animal behavior, hypnosis and development of the “self.” Dr. Czajkowski is a Program Director at the National Institutes of Health, a health psychologist whose expertise involves understanding the connection between psychosocial factors, behavioral risk factors and cardiovascular health and who oversees large-scale programs of research aimed at developing and testing interventions to improve psychological, behavioral and physical health.
